Since Milestone Construction Company was formed, renovation projects have been a major cornerstone of our volume.  Milestone has completed over 35 renovation and restoration projects in the last 5 years.  Several of these projects include major restoration and renovation to existing facilities.

The Bank of Fayetteville Building, which is actually the Lewis Brothers Building and Mrs. Young Building, in particular was a difficult historical restoration project.    Milestone was awarded Phase I of this project on May 24, 2006.  The Bank of Fayetteville owns and occupies the Lewis Brothers Building and Mrs. Young Building and utilizes it as their main bank location.  This three story facility is located on The Square in the heart of downtown Fayetteville.  Both Lewis and Mrs. Young Buildings are listed on the National Historic Register and therefore strict compliance and regulations had to be followed during the renovation process.  Phase I included an on-site investigation of the exterior façade to determine the existing conditions.  This included removal of bricks, windows, wood trim, metal flashings and exposing some structural elements to allow the engineer and architect to analyze the structural integrity of the building.  Phase I enabled Milestone to develop and negotiate a competitive “Guaranteed Maximum Price” and Phase II of the contract was awarded to Milestone Construction Company on August 22, 2006.

 The work for Phase II began and it involved coordination of several trades working in concert to complete the exterior restoration on time and without any accidents.  As the work progressed and the owner and architect were    impressed with our professionalism and work, they asked us to do more work on the interior and exterior of the bank that was not in our original scope of work.  Milestone substantially completed the project on time on February 28, 2007 without a punch list and under budget.
